October 10, 2024 | Session 3 | Navigating the Green Infrastructure Policy Landscape

Description: Green Infrastructure can play a crucial role in addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, urban heat islands, and biodiversity loss. However, successful implementation of GI hinges on effective policy frameworks at local, regional, and national levels. In this webinar, we will delve into the intersection of green infrastructure and policy, examining how policy decisions shape the planning, funding, and implementation of green infrastructure projects. Through the exploration of GI policy case studies, participants will gain an understanding of how policy interventions can catalyze the adoption and integration of green infrastructure solutions for a more sustainable and resilient future.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the importance of policy frameworks in driving the adoption and implementation of green infrastructure projects.
  • Recognize the key components of green infrastructure policy in the US and their implications for urban planning and environmental management
  • Explore case studies and best practices that highlight successful examples of integrating green infrastructure into policy agendas.

Guest Speakers: Pete Hill, Senior Policy Advisor, Green Infrastructure, Environmental Policy Innovation Center, and Tammy Fiebelkorn, City Councilor, District 7, City of Albuquerque
