NY Training | Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Workshop for Water Professionals
Presented by the New York Water Environment Association and the Syracuse University Environmental Finance Center
Description:
This workshop is an opportunity for water professionals to examine their intersectional identities, biases, assumptions, and values as it relates to working in water. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions led by experts in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I), explore strategies to support DE&I efforts in the workplace, and share experiences with peers. A light breakfast and lunch will be served.
Speakers will include:
- Beverli A. Marshall, General Manager, Valley Sanitary District, Indio, CA
- Dr. Sim J. Covington, Jr., Chief Diversity Officer at Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC)
In-person attendance is encouraged, but sessions will be livestreamed for hybrid viewing. If you would like to attend virtually, please contact Tess Clark, pclark@syr.edu.
Who Should Attend:
Registration is open to any interested attendees.
- Managers, owners, and operators of water or wastewater systems
- Decision-makers for water utilities, including mayors, finance officers, utility managers, public works directors, city councilors, board members, tribal council members, and clerks
- Consultants and technical assistance providers serving water systems
