Description: This training will cover concepts of asset management and GIS for water systems in two sessions.

Morning Session | Asset Management for Water Systems:

Asset management is a critical planning activity for water systems. Attendees will learn key steps for comprehensive asset management, including how to: build an asset inventory, determine levels of service, define roles and responsibilities, identify and calculate risk, forecast fiscal needs, and adjust the budget accordingly.

Afternoon Session | GIS for Water Management:

Geographic information Systems (GIS) are important for water utility management applications, but they can be expensive. Attendees will gain an introduction to using GIS for water management. The training workshop will introduce basic concepts of GIS, including how data is organized, how to import information from spreadsheets and other common sources, and several relevant tools in GIS software for utility management. Examples of using GIS for water-related applications will be covered will be covered using some common GIS software.
