Small and rural communities often face steep financial and regulatory hurdles when trying to maintain or improve their water and wastewater systems. In upstate New York’s Mohawk Valley, the towns of Canajoharie, Fort Plain, Nelliston, and Palatine Bridge are showing how local collaboration can turn those challenges into opportunities.

This video tells the story of how local leaders came together to plan collectively, pursue funding, and strengthen their shared infrastructure. The Mohawk Valley’s experience provides a practical model for towns across the country, illustrating how regional cooperation can help small communities secure reliable water service, protect public health, and build a more resilient future together.
