Wyoming | Municipal Utility Management 101 & Capital Improvement Planning in Utilities and Communities

After a brief overview of the basic functioning of water & sewer utilities, Utility Management 101 will focus on the basics of budgeting for utility operations and maintenance, asset replacements and capital improvements. After participants have a solid understanding of the full costs of utility services, the course will then focus on the impact that utility rates and rate structures have on utility collections, revenue stability and water conservation.
The CIP planning session will provide participants with a general understanding of how to financially plan for large, capital improvements to utility and community features. Attendees will learn how to estimate the costs of long-lived asset replacements, understand municipal lease-purchase agreements, and utilize methods to better plan and fund capital improvements.
