You work hard to provide safe, quality drinking water to your customers at fair rates. But how are your finances? This workshop provided attendees with the tools to improve the fiscal health of their utility without compromising service or deferring maintenance. This all day, small group training:
  • Helped attendees use their system’s financial reports to populate and use readily accessible Excel tools to judge the fiscal sustainability of their utility
  • Explored Virginia’s Waterworks Business Operations Plan (WBOP) as an important roadmap for a well-run water utility
  • Discussed the value of an asset management and capital improvement plan not only as a fiscal planning tool, but also as a communication resource for explaining rate changes to customers
The small group format allowed the opportunity to ask specific questions about  systems' finances and work one-on-one with experts to brainstorm solutions to water system challenges. Follow up technical assistance will be available, free of charge.
