Location:

You work hard to provide safe, quality drinking water to your customers at fair rates. But how are your finances? This workshop provided attendees with the tools to improve the fiscal health of your utility without compromising service or deferring maintenance.

This all day, small group training:

  • Helped use your system’s financial reports to populate and use readily accessible Excel tools to judge the fiscal sustainability of your utility
  • Explored Virginia’s Waterworks Business Operations Plan (WBOP) as an important roadmap for a well-run water utility
  • Discussed the value of an asset management and capital improvement plan not only as a fiscal planning tool, but also as a communication resource for explaining rate changes to customers

The small group format allowed attendees the opportunity to ask specific questions about their system’s finances and work one-on-one with experts to brainstorm solutions to their water system’s challenges. Follow up technical assistance will be available, free of charge.

Who Should Attend: Water utility board members and other decision-makers for water utilities, including mayors, finance officers, public works directors, city councilors, and clerks.
