Description: Don’t get lost in the FOG! Join the EFC Network for this training on Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) prevention. FOG is a major problem in sewer systems today and must be addressed with a multi-pronged approach to protect your sewer system, public health, and the environment. This training is designed to help communities develop a FOG prevention program, grow their current programs, and develop outreach materials to the community to minimize the impact of excessive FOG on the sewer system.
Training Objectives:
- Learn the basic of what FOG is and how it impacts the sewer system
- Understand the components of a successful FOG prevention program
- Understanding FOG regulations
- Learn how to develop a FOG ordinance with the SWEFC’s FOG ordinance template and writing guide
- Learn how to assess your community’s capacity for a FOG program
- Provide training on how to provide monitoring for and enforce FOG prevention programs
- Learn about the impact for domestic FOG producers, and requirements for food service establishments (FSE) and grease interceptor cleaners
- Learn about FOG prevention outreach
