Collaboration Opportunities for Small Drinking Water Systems

Date: December 2, 2020 | Time: 2:00 PM | Speaker: Southwest Environmental Finance Center | 1 Hour W/WW Credit

This webinar is provided in partnership with the Southern Tier West Regional Planning & Development Board (STW) is the regional planning agency for Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua Counties in Western New York.  STW assists 124 towns and villages in a diverse set of topics including community and economic development, community planning, data and information services, environmental and energy planning, regional services, local food planning, local government and community assistance, and transportation.

Running a small water system can present technical, managerial, and financial challenges for many reasons, including the fact that a small number of users are paying for all of the expenses related to the infrastructure and compliance. This session will discuss a wide variety of ways to work with other utilities to reduce the burden or operating, managing, and funding a water utility ranging from informal methods, such as information sharing and leveraging shared purchasing power to more formal methods, such as sharing personnel or having a combined management structure.
