Description: This training will explore the big picture of a water loss control program, including developing water loss goals and gathering data. It will also discuss water loss auditing, which helps you identify and understand sources of non-revenue water. The training will present tools that can be used to reduce non-revenue water in the apparent and real loss categories. Finally, the training will discuss developing a response plan and a standard operating procedure (SOP) for future audits.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the components of a water loss control program
  • Understand AWWA’s Free Water Audit Software and how it fits into the water loss control program
  • Understand the need to set goals for the water loss control program
  • Understand the data needed for a water loss control program
  • Understand the tools available for water loss control
  • Understand how to develop an SOP and response plan for water loss control

Trainer: Heather Himmelberger, Director, Southwest Environmental Finance Center

CEUs: 6 TCHs will be awarded for water works operators by NH DES for attending the training.

Please note: Lunch will be provided by NH DES.

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is designed for water systems serving 10,000 people or fewer (though systems of any size may attend), especially targeting local government systems. Owners of privately owned systems, consultants and technical assistance providers serving water systems are also invited to attend.
