MI Online Training | Best Practices for the Operation and Management of Small, Rural, and Tribal Wastewater Systems
Note: This registration link leads to an external website and registration form.
Description: Small rural and tribal wastewater systems are often challenged by a lack of funding and insufficient staffing – factors which can eventually result in operational and compliance problems, an increase in breakdowns, and premature equipment failures unless operators take a proactive approach. This class can help operators and managers of small systems prevent these types of problems and build system capacity by presenting effective best practices in the areas of operations and maintenance, managerial planning and preparedness, and compliance; three components which are essential for successful day-today operations and long-term sustainability.
The class is presented in three sessions, over three days, each with a special focus:
- June 24: Operation and Maintenance
- June 25: Building Managerial Capacity
- June 26: Compliance with Regulations
Learning Objectives:
- Identify best practices for the operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities
- Describe how assets can be managed to improve sustainability and resilience
- Evaluate compliance with environmental rules and safety regulations
- Analyze facility performance and maintenance needs
Presenter: Gregory Pearson, Water & Wastewater Trainer, Great Lakes Environmental Infrastructure Center
