Description: This 1.5 day in-person workshop is designed for operators, utility managers, and governing body members of water and wastewater utilities. This training incorporates sector-specific regulatory drivers, capital improvement planning, employing financial metrics to analyze utility health, evaluating effectiveness of certain rate structures, and a discussion of funding programs common to water and wastewater systems.
Training Objectives:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate the financial health of a water/wastewater utility
- Identify risks unique to water & sewer systems
- Develop a defensible Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)
- Build multi-year revenue and expense forecasts
- Determine revenue requirements and evaluate rate adjustments
- Align financial policy with regulatory compliance and infrastructure needs
- Thursday, May 28, 2026 | 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (with lunch and breaks)
- Friday, May 29, 2026 | 8:30 am – 1:00 pm (with breaks)
- Managers, owners, and operators of water systems serving less than 10,000 people, or wastewater systems with an average daily flow of less than 1 million gallons
- Decision-makers for water and wastewater utilities, including mayors, finance officers, utility managers, public works directors, city councilors, board members, tribal council members, and clerks
- Consultants and technical assistance providers serving water and wastewater systems
