KS Training | Asset Management for Water and Wastewater Systems

Description: Asset management provides the tools needed to actively and consistently analyze current operations and future needs to develop robust management systems and well-designed infrastructure plans to meet increasing challenges. It is a framework that helps utilities provide the desired level of service at the lowest life cycle cost. The asset management framework consists of 5 core concepts:
- Asset Inventory
- Level of Service
- Criticality
- Life Cycle Costing
- Long-Term Funding
Participants will learn the basics of asset management while beginning a basic asset inventory of their system using the SCAP tool. Attendees will be guided through entering system information into the SCAP tool and starting an asset inventory/assessment for their utility. All participants will receive a free copy of the SCAP asset management tool along with supporting documents.
Trainer: Tyler Cotner, Program Manager, Environmental Finance Center at Wichita State University CEUs: This training is approved for 5 hours of Drinking Water and Wastewater continuing education credit by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Who Should Attend:- Managers, owners, and operators of water systems serving less than 10,000 people, or wastewater systems with an average daily flow of less than 1 million gallons
- Decision-makers for water and wastewater utilities, including mayors, finance officers, utility managers, public works directors, city councilors, board members, tribal council members, and clerks
- Consultants and technical assistance providers serving water and wastewater systems
