Webinar | Activated Sludge Process Control Calculations
View/Download Presentation Slides
Description: Join us for an introduction to activated sludge process control calculations. In this webinar, we’ll explore how to optimize the activated sludge process using Mean Cell Residence Times, Sludge Age, and Food to Microorganism Ratios. By the conclusion of this 1-hour webinar, attendees will have gained a greater understanding of the microbiological processes occurring in activated sludge wastewater treatment plants and will be able to:
- Use F:M ratios and MCRTs to evaluate plant performance
- Calculate Mean Cell Residence Times (MRCTs) given plant information
- Calculate F:M ratios given plant information
- Describe the path of wastewater as it flows through the treatment process and the fate of wastewater solids
- Calculate basin volumes, flow rates, and concentrations
- Explain how BOD is converted to microorganisms and inert materials in the wastewater treatment process
Presenter: Gregory Pearson, Water & Wastewater Trainer, Great Lakes Environmental Infrastructure Center at Michigan Technological University
