OH Online Training | Equipment Replacement and Rehabilitation Planning
Description: In this course, participants will learn approaches to planning for utility equipment replacement and rehabilitation. Failed equipment often leads to non-compliance and emergency failures can lead to high costs, while prudent planning can bring about better reliability and lower long-term costs for utility operations. This course will use a utility asset management approach as background for planning for equipment replacement. Participants do not need to have prior knowledge of utility asset management to participate.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain how equipment failure can lead to regulatory non-compliance and high emergency repair costs for utilities.
- Describe the basic principles of utility asset management and how they relate to equipment replacement and rehabilitation planning.
- Apply an asset management approach to plan and prioritize equipment replacement and rehabilitation.
- Compare proactive (planned) replacement with reactive (emergency) replacement in terms of cost, reliability, and compliance.
- Identify how prudent replacement planning improves reliability and lowers long-term costs for utility operations.
