Description:  This half-day interactive session focuses on two important topics for water system effective management  – water system management and leadership. The training will discuss principles of management and how they help a utility achieve sustainability, reliability, and excellent customer service. Attendees will work together as small groups to use a self-assessment of managerial practice and discuss some approaches to improving their practice over time. The training will also discuss leadership. Leadership is often only thought of in the sense of managing other people, but leadership can be practiced by anyone at a utility. We will look at leadership in a different way to help attendees see it as a bigger topic that can help utilities and employees at all levels. This portion will also include interactive exercises.

Also offered the same day: Show Me the Money Training (9:00 am – 12:00 pm). Participants may register for one or both sessions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the basics that go into effective management of utilities
