Description: This training provides a practical overview of how to identify, pursue, and manage federal funding for small wastewater systems in Arizona. Participants will learn about key funding sources for their state, with emphasis on State Revolving Funds (SRF), while gaining an understanding of the overall process from project development to closeout. Best practices for developing strong project descriptions, assessing fiscal readiness, and engaging community stakeholders will be highlighted as fundamentals for any funding proposal. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how to get started on their funding journey, with key contacts and resources to successfully navigate the federal funding landscape in their state.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key federal funding sources for small wastewater systems, including CWSRF and other programs
  • Apply best practices for developing competitive project proposals
  • Understand the SRF process, including timelines, requirements, and key documents such as IUPs and project priority lists
  • Recognize the importance of community engagement and ratepayer considerations
  • Locate key agency contacts and resources to support funding applications and project implementation
