Description: The Environmental Protection Agency defines “One Water” as a holistic approach to water management that views all water sources – drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and even greywater – as a single, interconnected resource. It emphasizes managing these sources in an integrated and sustainable way to meet the needs of communities and ecosystems. One Water can change and regenerate the way we live, the opportunities we have, our environment, and our society.

This workshop is designed for utility managers and municipalities to learn about the strategies North Carolina has implemented for water conservation, including demand management and programs that emphasize the importance of every drop. Guest speakers from North Carolina will discuss the approaches employed in the Jordan Lake watershed that can be applied to other systems interested in using an integrated water approach.

Learning Objectives:

  • To Identify common challenges faced by small water systems and how partnerships can address them.
  • Describe various partnership models and collaboration approaches, including their benefits and implementation steps.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing and develop strategies to overcome barriers to collaboration.
  • Formulate an action plan for initiating or enhancing collaboration with other utilities.
