KS Training | Asset Management for Water and Wastewater Systems
Location: Buhler Fire Department; 301 N Main St. Buhler, Kansas 67522
Description: Asset management provides the tools needed to actively and consistently analyze current operations and future needs to develop robust management systems and well-designed infrastructure plans to meet increasing challenges. It is a framework that helps utilities provide the desired level of service at the lowest life cycle cost. The asset management framework consists of 5 core concepts:
- Asset Inventory
- Level of Service
- Criticality
- Life Cycle Costing
- Long-Term Funding
This workshop will introduce the fundamentals of asset management as well as instruct participants on how to use the Small Community Assistance Planning (SCAP) asset management tool. SCAP is a free and easy-to-use tool that, when paired with an asset management program, offers an excellent opportunity to leave a lasting mark on your wastewater utility.
Participants will learn the basics of asset management while beginning a basic asset inventory of their system using the SCAP tool. Attendees will be guided through entering system information into the SCAP tool and starting an asset inventory/assessment for their utility. All participants will receive a free copy of the SCAP asset management tool along with supporting documents.
