This workshop will cover the critical role that asset management can play in setting rates and overall financial management of drinking water systems. Topics will include an overview of specific tools and frameworks that are especially geared to getting small systems started with asset management. Next, we will look at how the outcomes of the asset management process feed into other utility management practices such as rate setting and capital planning. You will learn how to:

1. Embark on an asset management program
2. Build a good team for asset management
3. Use asset management to inform rate design
4. Locate (and impress) external funding sources

This workshop is designed for local government drinking water system managers, clerks, treasurers, elected officials, and others who budget and/or set rates.
