In the current climate of increasing regulations, decreasing revenues, and aging and decaying infrastructure, an asset management approach is vital. This workshop will provide you with tools to begin the process and understand the benefits. Asset Management helps you solve problems that are important to you and your operations. For example, you may be experiencing problems related to unknown locations of meters, valves or hydrants. You may not be sure of the best asset to replace given your limited funds. Asset Management helps you make decisions about how to operate, maintain, repair, rehabilitate, and replace utility assets and maintain a desired level of service at a sustainable cost.

Asset management is also an excellent tool water utilities can use to improve their resiliency to man-made and natural adversities. This training will discuss ways of using asset management principles together with other decision-making tools to improve overall resilience.

We will also cover the specific topic of chemical handling safety. In particular, the safe-handling of bulk chemical deliveries to help prevent unsafe situations for employees and customers.

You will learn how to:
– Develop an Inventory of utility components
– Set goals for level of service
– Identify critical assets to sustained operations and for resilience
– Safe chemical handling practices

This workshop is geared toward public works directors, water utility managers, operators and maintenance staff, and financial staff.
