The spreadsheet provides an example asset inventory particularly geared for smaller sized utilities. The user may add additional columns to the spreadsheet to gather other data they may feel is important for them or the user may wish to eliminate some of these fields. The spreadsheet is meant as a starting point. Utilities may want to use a spreadsheet for a while until they become more familiar with asset management and what data they want to collect, how they want to use it, and what reports they would like to generate. Then, if desired, the utility can move towards purchasing a system that will provide more capabilities.
