This workshop will help small water systems recruit and retain experienced staff, as well as set rates that will ensure financial sustainability. Topics covered will include succession planning, operator recruitment, and retention strategies. We will discuss the links between workforce development, long-term system sustainability, and long-term planning that also includes communicating with decision-makers. You will also learn how to assess and monitor financial performance, design appropriate rates structures and set fair rates that cover costs, and plan to fund future capital costs.

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is designed for water systems serving 10,000 or fewer people (though systems of any size may attend), and is particularly targeted to local government systems facing financial challenges. Owners of privately owned systems, consultants and technical assistance providers serving water systems are also invited to attend.
